Sarah Sapp, MA, LMHCA (she/her)
MY BACKGROUND
Hello therapy seekers, my name is Sarah Sapp and I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor Associate (MC61102916). I received my Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and a certification in substance use dependence from Antioch University in Seattle, WA. Over the last 9 years in the field I have trained and worked in a variety of clinical settings, including: community mental health clinic intensive outpatient (IOP) and outpatient Addiction Recovery, outpatient care treating underserved and multiculturally diverse adolescents and young adult women, partial hospitalization program (PHP) for Eating Recovery and most recently PHP and IOP for Mood Anxiety and Trauma Recovery. Most recently, I am now the owner and operator of my private practice: Accepting Serenity Counseling, PLLC.
I began this journey of healing at a young age when I discovered my own chronic pain has a mental health impact in need of support and care. Since then I have committed myself to serving others and aiding their exploration of a life worth living.
I enjoy working with individuals with chronic pain and illness, mood- and anxiety-related disorders, as well as trauma-related disorders, and an over controlled temperament (OC). I have training in a variety of evidence-based treatments, including: Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Exposure Response Prevention (ERP), and Radically Open-Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (RO-DBT).
MY APPROACH
I predominantly operate from an ACT lens as it provides a foundation of empowerment while adjusting an individual’s relationship to their experience through acceptance, while creating movement toward personally identified values. However, I believe a strong therapeutic dynamic is co-created between therapist and client, and meaningfully constructed in a safe, non-judgmental environment. As such, I will consider interventions and treatment approaches based on each individual need.
